“I do not usually accept commissions. But a dear friend of mine, who I have known from birth, asked me to do a painting for her. It was total immersion for me. I painted it in January. Because I work wet on wet, I need to paint quickly and for long hours. It is like running a marathon in front of the easel. It took 4 weeks. 6-10 hours a day.
I WAS the water. I WAS the salt air. And, I was flooded with memories, of camping on these islands with my young daughter, and my client, and her family more than 35 years ago.”
